Hi, I'm Stephanie. (Sonju. Sonj. Just not Steph.)
I don't have a good story about my grandfather handing me a camera and instantly falling in love with photography. After living in almost 60 homes by the time I graduated high school, I was sucked into the restaurant business as I dabbled in photography. I swore I'd never photograph people, and preferred shooting landscapes and flowers with my point-n-shoot 2 MP camera. But those adventures led me to abandoned spaces and eventually to tossing a model in said spaces for practice. I learned about light, posing, and avoiding trespassing signs. Naturally, my love for portraiture grew and I started photographing families, children, and even weddings. Now that I've left the restaurant business and nurtured my business, I've fallen hard for the documentary side. I always struggled with posing and educating clients about wardrobe choices, so the transition to natural, authentic photography has been a welcome one. I freak out (like, get stupid-giddy) about light, grunt when I get THAT shot, and can't wait to show you how beautiful your life already is.
Things I'm absolutely #obsessed with: Yummy light, guacamole, brides that smile, genuine hugs, peppermint patties, TRAVEL, large vocabularies, iced coffee, anything lavender, the sound of my shutter, and my 17 year old cat, Moo.
Things that creep me out #ew: Butterflies. Shiny food. Khakis.
