Jessica and her bridesmaids were getting ready at the Sonesta on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Jessica was lucky enough to score one of their meeting rooms right off the balcony facing the ocean. The light poured into the room as the hair and makeup artists worked their magic...
Jessica and Ricky opted not to do a first look, and Ricky's reaction to seeing her come down the aisle is probably one of my favorite wedding day moments...
On the quick drive down A1A back to the Sonesta, a freak wind and rain storm dampened our day. There were barricades rolling around in the street, and I even joked to my assistant about the possibility of the power going out during the reception...(more on that later) So instead of the yummy natural light portraits we had planned around the hotel, we kicked out the tourists and had some fun in the lobby.
Jessica, Ricky, their friends and family didn't let that uninvited storm crash their day though - these two partied all night with their closest friends on the dance floor. I knew it was going to be an awesome reception once the wedding party start the Harlem Shake during the intros. Also, it is quite possible to "make it rain" indoors when you have a fresh stack of monopoly money.
Jessica and her father pulled off one of the best Bride/Father dances ever! I usually tear up a little during these dances, but this time I was laughing and cheering them on - so awesome.
On to the toasts. Ricky's best man began his toast and suddenly - you guessed it - the power went out. I think it may have flickered 3 more times during his speech, but he sure was proud to see that his speech literally made the lights go out.
And in one of the sweetest wedding moments ever, Ricky revealed a video he had made that highlighted the moments that brought he and Jessica to that day. A large screen was set up in the back that flashed images of Jessica and Ricky growing up, and snippets of their time together. Take notes, guys. After the video and dinner, it was time to party. I've never seen a couple stay on the dance floor the entire night - so. much. FUN.
I want to be friends with all of these people.
(hi Scott!) ;)
Congratulations Jessica and Ricky! Thanks so much for letting me be a part of your day!
