I met Leslie at a Mermaid show. Yep, you read that right. I was invited to a South Florida Camera Club meeting at the Wreck Bar in Ft. Lauderdale and was introduced to Leslie. We talked briefly about photography (and mermaids!) and she mentioned she was getting married later this year. We exchanged info, she assisted me for a couple shoots, and had a few "mentor moments" as I taught her a little more about her camera. She's a budding photographer herself, so when she booked me to photograph her wedding, I was honored and excited to capture such a special day. (See? Mermaids ARE magical!)
After a few months of planning, Leslie, Brian and I met over coffee to go over details. Suddenly, Leslie slapped a sonogram picture on the table and the cat was out of the bag - They were expecting their first child! Such an awesome feeling knowing I'm one of the first to know my client's little secrets...
Leslie got ready at the Riverside Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale.
Leslie takes a moment to soak her feet and write a sweet card to her groom. My assistant/second shooter Chelsea had a fun little polaroid camera with her and snapped this for Leslie. Leslie included it in her card as a sneak peek before the first look with Brian. I can't get enough of Leslie's smile. It's just infectious, and so genuine. She's obviously over the moon about marrying the man of her dreams. Brian reads the card from his bride, just moments before their first look...
And we're off to the ceremony! The ceremony and reception were held at the Chart House restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale. The ring-bearer needed a little help getting down the stairs. What a helpful junior bridesmaid... Leslie's face (and that smile again!) says it all. That's pure excitement right there.
I had to sneak them out shortly after the ceremony to take advantage of that delicious hazy summery light. Such a beautiful backdrop on the docks of the restaurant. As Leslie and Brian were introduced to the party, they also announced the name of their son, Kobe James Forman. Brian and Leslie's first dance was to a lounge-y rendition of "Get Lucky" by Daughter. Leslie sang every word to her groom...Even the staff were dancing - can't blame them - it's the CUPID SHUFFLE!
Congratulations Leslie and Brian!
