The Cables hold a special place in my heart - as all my birth story clients do. Last year, I remember the emotion-dump as I sat in the parking lot just an hour after Lilah was born. Birth stories are heavy, intimate events to photograph, but our bond after the baby is born are some of my favorite relationships with my clients. So when Katie reached out asking my availability for Lilah's first birthday party, she didn't even have to bribe me with the promise of macarons. Her party was the day after I landed back in the States, fresh from my two-week vacation in Spain and Morocco. I knew I'd be jet-lagged, but I wouldn't miss it for the world. (By the way, macarons didn't happen, and I totally forgot to grab some of that blueberry dump-cake. Gah!)
Lilah's first birthday party was just like how any girl's party should be - surrounded by family and friends, eating handfuls of cheese, flirting with boys, and a quick nap before stuffing her face with cake.
Ok I'll explain. Katie took Lilah inside for a quick wardrobe change, and I picked up her crown and proudly displayed in on my head. One of the guests insisted on taking this photograph.
Happy first birthday Lilah!
